Percussion Ensemble
Although it looks like we're having a nice time playing poker, we are actually performing Living Room Music by John Cage, a famed 20th-Century composer. Living Room Music is a 4 movement piece for percussion quartet. Instruments include objects one would find in a living room; lamps, tables, phones, TV's and other household objects. One movement is performed as a story with the players reciting a tale but in such a way that intricate rhythms are heard. The movement depicted in the picture uses instruments found at a poker table, with a melody played by filling different glass bottles with water. Another cool piece we performed was Inuksuit, by John Luther Adams. This piece is performed outdoors, and has a very ..unique.. sound, check it out by clicking the link below!
